Walnut Street Commons Historic Preservation Complete

Renovations of two formerly blighted office buildings into four apartments at 104 and 106 Walnut Street are approaching completion and will be available for rent shortly. The preservation of these two historic 1930s brick buildings, across the street from the McCormick Riverfront Library, was undertaken by Harristown Enterprises and its affiliate Harrisburg Property Services.

Purchased in 2023 with partner DH Mowery Investments, LLC, these properties add to the inventory of sought-after leasable living space in Harrisburg’s downtown. Similar to the recent successful renovations and apartment conversions of The Plum and The Menaker, the addition of these two Walnut Street buildings helps to preserve and enhance this historic district of downtown Harrisburg.

The buildings have been converted from vacant offices into four 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartments. HBG Realty LLC, another Harristown affiliate, is handling leasing and management of the units. These four apartments expand Harristown’s downtown living unit total to 252 residential units.

“The expansion onto Walnut Street, just off the riverfront and across from the library, is a great addition to our property portfolio,” said Brad Jones, Harristown President & CEO. “These long-vacant buildings will bring added residential life to that street and will help to enhance the livability of our city.”
